About Me

Hello!  I’m glad you found me.  I’m Erin.  Just like you, I’d say I’m more complicated than an intro paragraph could begin to explain.  But I guess we have to start somewhere--

-First, I’m a mother of nine. (yes, I gave birth to nine children! I’m still shocked about this myself.)
-I’m from Detroit, but like Laura Ingalls, I now live somewhere in the “Big Woods” of Wisconsin.

-I’ve been an Army, a Navy, AND an Air Force wife.
-I have a degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan, although I’ve never used it for anything besides my own home projects.
-For four years I ran my own toy store for which I was everything from manager to clerk to accountant to janitor.
-At times I’ve been a homeschooling mom, a girl scout leader, a Sunday school teacher.

-I don't own any "workout" clothes, but I do have lots of "work" clothes (mainly jeans and shirts covered in paint).

-My vehicle is a giant van that used to be a bus for a daycare center.  Embarrassing, but true.

Let’s see; what else…

-I prefer the forest to the beach.

-I love all things retro/vintage/old.

-I hate the modern world.

-As a child I was labeled as “painfully shy”.

-I've never been to a spa.

-I’m left-handed.

-I’m 5’2”.

-My favorite season is Autumn.

-My favorite stooge is Curly.

-My favorite milk is chocolate.

-My favorite cookie is round.

-And my favorite color is blue.

( Not that any of that stuff matters.)

Now for the nitty-gritty:  So when did I realize I was “(k)not worth knowing”?  Well, I always had that suspicion since second grade, when other girls would push me around and steal my Girl Scout dues.  And in the years that followed, many similarly degrading events all pointed to that same conclusion.

The last straw came recently, when I attempted to reach out to my old friends.  And out of a lifetime’s worth of acquaintances, only one person responded. Verifiable proof that I was indeed NOT WORTH KNOWING? Apparently so to those who already knew me.

But what about the people who don’t know me yet?  I thought, perhaps some part of my tangled mess of a life might be of interest to someone out there.  And if I lay out all the pieces that make up this knot I call “Erin”, maybe a piece or two of it might be worthwhile to one of you?

So I’m placing myself here, a la carte.  I give you permission to take what you like, and leave what you don’t.

And just so you know, I’m not here to give you perky pep-talks or advice.  I don’t have any answers.  I’m trying to figure things out, just like you.  And maybe we can unravel some of this tangled, messy knot of life together!
